Carol Smrz is a Southern California artist whose paintings explore human connection and the quiet narratives found in everyday moments. Working in oil and cold wax, she builds richly textured surfaces where expressive color and gestural brushwork become as important as the figures themselves.

After earning a degree in ceramic sculpture from Alfred University, Smrz spent twenty years working as a stuntwoman in the film industry before returning to her lifelong passion for art. Her varied experiences have fostered a sensitivity to gesture, composition, and the subtle interactions that give each painting its emotional depth.
